One of the many benefits of hosting a major event is the opportunity to showcase the host nation as an attractive tourist destination. An essential part of this is ensuring a plan is in place long before the event to ensure that all attendees have the best experience possible and to maximise the exposure during the event so that city and country reap the tourism benefits long after the event has passed. This professional development workshop will explore a number of areas in the sport tourism and hospitality area, with the aim that delegates in attendance will leave the event with new frameworks and ways of thinking to apply in their own role. The workshop will explore the topics of sport tourism such as, destination management, identifying the sport tourist, ways to welcoming VIP’s and how to creating a lasting legacy post event.

Delegates will explore the following topics:

  • Sport Tourism
  • Venue Hospitality Sales
  • VIP Experience
  • Legacy

Learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding how to develop an effective plan to ensure that the major event will have a lasting legacy on the host city/nation long after the event concludes
