As the 2022 FIFA World CupTM approaches, it will be essential for those involved to learn more about the latest developments in the game, as well as what has occurred in the past. This Professional Development Workshop will explore four distinct topics in relation to the world of professional football. Delegates attending will explore the history and culture of the game in one session, eventually looking forward to what the football landscape might look like in five years’ time. Delegates will also learn about how the digital age has forced clubs to transform themselves digitally. In this session, delegates can expect to learn how best to use digital platforms to maximise impact on football properties themselves. Those in attendance will also learn about corporate social responsibility in relation to football, examining how best to engage volunteers and make a difference in the community. In addition to presentations from four industry-leading speakers, delegates will also put lessons learned to practical use in eight interactive workshops. 

Delegates will explore the following topics:

  • History & culture of the game
  • Digital transformation of clubs & federations
  • Football for good in the community
  • Media rights

Learning outcomes include:

  • To understand the history & culture of the game of football, especially why this is important in looking ahead to the future of the game
  • To examine the digital landscape in professional football and how clubs are using digital platforms to engage fans
  • To learn about how clubs are maximizing the impact they make at the community level, including the types of programmes they offer
