Josoor Institute is now accepting applications for the second cohort of its professional certificate and diploma programmes that are set to begin in March 2017. Following the success achieved by the first cohort, Josoor Institute has retained the programme topics for the second intake, which are ‘Football and Sports Management’ and ‘Major Events Management’. Scholarships are also available for delegates who are interested to join and meet the selection criteria.

Josoor Institute is a centre of excellence for the sports and events industries, inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC). The professional certificate and diploma programmes are designed and delivered in partnership with leading international academic partners, including Georgetown University, University of Liverpool and Leeds Beckett University. The 12 month programmes are of the highest standards and are delivered by renowned academicians and leading industry practitioners.

Delivered part-time and in six blocks spread over the year, the certificate and diploma programmes provide delegates with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop their management and leadership capabilities in the sports and major events industries. The programmes allow delegates the flexibility to continue with their professional careers and enable them to learn the practical and theoretical applications of delivered content.

Commenting on the launch of these programmes, Mushtaq Al-Waeli, Executive Director (acting) of Josoor Institute, said, “Following the great success of our first cohort of the certificate and diploma programmes, we are committed and driven more than ever to continue to grow regional talent and develop the human capabilities of the MENA region’s sports and events industries. The graduating delegates from the first cohort have gone on to grow their careers and developed a network of industry peers through the connections made at the programmes. With the launch of the second cohort this March, we enter the next phase of our exciting journey in providing the skills and knowledge required to build sustainable sports and events industries across the region and beyond. The learnings gained from the programmes will empower delegates to shape not only their own careers but also the future of the industry creating a legacy for the region for many years to come.”

“We are delighted by the interest that industry professionals have expressed in the programmes’ second cohort. The value gained from the certificate and diploma programmes is very tangible, and we have seen it shape and impact the careers of our delegates from the first cohort,” therefore we would encourage all those in the sports and events industries in the MENA region to take up this opportunity to develop their career paths” added Al-Waeli.

The ‘Football and Sports Management’ certificate and diploma programmes will provide delegates with a broad understanding of the complexities in the management of sports, particularly football. Featured topics include the analysis of goals and resources, the development of revenue streams, design and coordination, scheduling and operations, staff management and the implementation of action plans.

The ‘Major Events Management’ certificate and diploma programmes provide delegates with an interactive learning opportunity. Sessions led by industry experts and academics will focus on the conceptualisation, organisation and execution of large scale events.

Building on the successful delivery model of the first cohort, the 2017 programmes will include a mix of online and classroom lectures, team exercises and site visits. Delegates will visit stadiums in Qatar to get first-hand knowledge about stadium operations and the delivery of successful events.

Speaking about his experience from the first cohort of the Football and Sports Management programme, Atiq Al-Ghanim a delegate from the Qatar Football Association said: “During the programme, we learned from highly skilled professors that came from prestigious universities such as Georgetown University and the University of Liverpool. I benefited greatly from the knowledge and experience they shared with us. Through the knowledge gained from the speakers, we are able to apply global learnings in Qatar.”

The first cohort wrapped up late last year with great success. The programme included 68 delegates from Qatar and the region who saw great value in the knowledge gained from the certificate and diploma programmes. Delegates remarked on the impact that the learnings of the programmes has left on their career and the experience they have gained from the speakers and their industry peers.

Interested delegates are encouraged to visit Josoor Institute’s website www.josoorinstitute.qa to find out more about each programme’s timing and registration details. Additionally, they can contact delegate@josoorinstitute.qa for more information.
