Josoor Institute

Josoor Institute was launched in December 2013 with the purpose of building the capabilities of the sports and events industries in Qatar and the MENA region, through education, training, professional certification, consultancy and research.

The Josoor Institute is the inspiration of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. It fulfils the aims of the Qatar National Vision 2030, to develop a more diversified economy through the introduction of new sustainable business sectors and to support the education and training of the Qatari people to enable them to fully develop their talents and skills. Above all, the goal is to leave a legacy, which will support the economic and social development of Qatar, thus enriching the lives of its people.

The hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ is a great honour and a unique opportunity for Qatar. It lends urgency to our ambition to create a permanent and healthy sports industry not only in Qatar, but throughout the MENA region. Josoor Institute will play a leading role in ensuring that the capability is in place to deliver an outstanding event, building on the expertise developed from hosting existing major sporting and cultural events such as 15th Asian Games Doha 2006, 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships and the 24th Men’s Handball World Championships and others, which have already begun the process of developing domestic expertise.

The purpose of Josoor Institute is to provide education, training and development solutions, which will help individuals and organisations develop the skills and expertise to deliver world-class, high-profile sporting and leisure events. We cater for everyone with the talent and skill to pursue a career in the industries, from new entrants to entrepreneurs seeking guidance on developing their business.

The three business objectives set out for Josoor Institute over the next three years are:

  1. To create a talent pool within the region capable of delivering 2022 FIFA World Cup™ and other major events
  2. To develop the skills of current and future professionals to create world class sports and events industries across the region, thereby minimising the need for international support
  3. To act as a catalyst for the growth of the sustainable sports and events industries in Qatar and across the region

The awarding of the 2022 FIFA World Cup ™ has been a catalyst for the foundation of a body that can develop a powerful programme of practical, industry-based training courses, delivered both in classroom and online.

To achieve our goals, we have engaged an extensive network of partners and associates with international expertise who help us to shape, manage and deliver our training. Our contacts ensure that we can also offer practical simulations and real workplace experience.
